White Tears
2017, installation
A set of pictorial vytynanky(traditional Ukrainian form of art papercutting),
each of which depicts one of the symptoms (signs) of the destruction of our world:

  • bird with a broken wing, as the embodiment of a broken spirit that symbolizes the crisis of humanity;
  • broken tree, which symbolizes natural calamities that overcame the planet;
  • weapon as thirst for power;
  • figure of a man from a virtual game "Minecraft" as the embodiment of the real and virtual worlds that send the spectator to thoughts about parallel realities of our lives. They really do exist in our lifetime… they combine within the limits of space one country's military operations, and peaceful life, with meetings in comfortable coffee shops.

Installation. Fragments of armament and accoutrement.

The self-existence of these objects became possible, in particular, through the crisis of spirituality, and allegoric embodiments are represented through vytynanky. The painted artifacts of war are in a white color. It is an attempt even in a symbolic plane to soften consequences. But on earth broken by war, the "flowers" that "bloomed" through this war will still remain black for a long time...
