Mute
2015, video
Euromaidan, a civil struggle which took place across the winter bridging 2013 to 2014 and was later rechristened the Revolution of Dignity (2013-2014), was the largest event in Ukraine's recent history, and a seismic continuation of the country's fight for independence. The Revolution of Dignity made an indelible impact in the formation of Ukraine's contemporary national identity — its morals, priorities, and optimism dramatically changed Ukraine's sense of self.

ZINAIDA's video installation shines a light on the women who took part in volunteer movements at Maidan. In doing so, the author explores and immerses herself in the emotional state of each heroine.

The deep and minimalistic form of the video allows the viewer to focus on each participant of the project and her untold story. As much, with "MUTE", the artist addresses the nuances of what it means to be a hero, especially with regards to the essential manner of women in climactic matters. The video honours and uplifts the variety of volunteers who made the Revolution of Dignity a triumphant success.

The project has been exhibited in a solo show at PinchukArtCentre (Kyiv, Ukraine, 2015) and within exhibition "4.5.0.", White Box gallery (New York, USA, 2018).
