From August 12 to 28, artist Zinaida Kubar will present ceramic items based on the rushnyk canvases in the Central House of the Artist, where The Art of Fire All-Ukrainian Exhibition (ceramics, glass, metal) dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine will be held.
Spreading the rushnyk, standing on it - these actions had a special meaning in Ukrainian traditional culture. They were usually part of ritual acts symbolizing the beginning of something new and significant.
The exhibition presents a transformed form of the rushnyks as well as ceramic plates.
Spread out rushnyks encourage the viewer to bow the head to offer obeisance. This is an involuntary expression of the respect to both Mother Earth and the customs of ancestors. Thus, this art space represent a synergy of its two components, two objects: the Earth as the rushnyk and the rushnyk as the Earth.
Entrance is free!
Address: 1/5, Artema (Sichovyh Striltsiv) street (from 12 to 7 p.m., day off: Tuesday)
